What’s your outlook for 2021?
The year 2021 in its last few months is going to bring back the joy, happiness and full zest in festivities, which people were deprived of due to the pandemic. Hopefully, Covid-19 would be forgotten and retail therapy will bounce back.
What’s the new normal in terms of fashion?
The new normal in fashion will remain what was always normal. However, sustainability in fashion will prevail in a big way.
Tell us about your latest collection?
Our latest collection couture – 2021 is titled Nazm-e-Mahal. It portrays the beautiful story of a modern maharani, how she spends her day in the palace. Royalty remains the high point of the collection.
AL being a classic brand has always been deep-rooted in the heritage and craft of the country and that’s reflected it in its utmost authenticity in this collection.
What’s the colour/motif of the season?
For bridal wear, it has always been a personal choice of the bride, so we like to reach out to her vision for that one big day of her life. However, bright colours like deep purple, mustard yellow and deep burgundy wine have popped up as a big rage in the season, leaving behind pastels. Traditional motifs are back in vogue.
When it comes to Indian styles and patterns, which one is your favourite and why?
Art of Textiles crafting which was introduced by AL many decades back and is a signature style of our brand remains our favourites. In this, different colours and patterns of brocade textiles are crafted together to create that magical effect, which is a complicated process but surely a breath-taking technique.
What’s the essence of luxury for you?
For me, luxury means indulgence. It could be in any form, it could be just holidaying at your favourite resort or wearing something which gives a great feeling of indulgence.
